Congratulations to Aida Lizalde (B.A., ‘18) and Helia Pouyanfar (M.F.A., ‘22) — winner and finalist for the 2023 Miami University Young Sculptors Competition for the William and Dorothy Yeck Award. 

Pouyanfar and Lizalde are among ten young sculptors to be selected for this national competition. The award recognizes emerging artists who have achieved a significant degree of success as young artists. As the winner, Lizalde’s work will be added to the Miami University Young Sculptors of the Twenty-First Century Collection.

The juror for this year’s competition was Terry Berlier, also a UC Davis art studio alum (M.F.A, ‘03) as well as an alum of Miami University.  The competition is hosted by the Hiestand Galleries at Miami University and exhibition will be on view from Friday, Sept. 6-Oct. 6.
