Point of Departure, Program 2: Indecency (& other bawdy bits); Tales of a Sexual Tomboy (A One Woman Comedy); Vibrant Matter MFA Theatre & Dance Thesis Performances
Program 2: Wyatt Theater, 8 p.m. April 8, 10, 11 and 12
Program 2 includes three works:
“Indecency (& other bawdy bits)” by JanLee Marshall examines the
life of Mary Frith, a.k.a. Moll Cutpurse, a thieving,
cross-dressing, singing celebrity in 17th-century London.
“Tales of a Sexual Tomboy (A One Woman Comedy),” written and
performed by Joyful Simpson in collaboration with Micaela
Cirimeli, blends standup and story-telling for a comedy about
what it means to be a tough cookie with a soft heart.
“Vibrant Matter” by Brandon Gonzalez is an interdisciplinary
exploration that investigates the relationships between human
bodies and objects.
New performance works at the University of California, Davis,
examine war, sex, technology, cross-dressing and more. The pieces
by UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance master of fine arts
students will be presented in two unique and dynamic programs of
original theatre, dance and storytelling with the umbrella title
“Point of Departure.”
Performances run April 7 – 12 on the UC Davis
campus. Admission is free, but there is a suggested donation
of $5.
