All My Possessions for a Moment of Time, An MFA Project
Wyatt Pavilion Theatre
The Department of Theatre and Dance presents “All My Possessions for a Moment of Time,” an MFA project, created by graduate student by Joseph Schupbach.
The work will be performed 9-12 at 7 p.m. in the Wyatt Pavilion Theatre on Old Davis Road. Admission is by donation, suggested $5.
Written and directed by Joseph Schupbach, the performance features choreography by Ayo Walker, performance studies alumna, and Lena Rose Polzonetti, graduate student. Costume design is by graduate student Tasa Gleason.
“It’s June 1, 1953, and Queen Elizabeth II prepares for her coronation,” said Schupbach. “It’s been over a year since King George VI’s passing, and it is time for Elizabeth to ceremonially take the crown. But, what the night has in store for her, nobody could have guessed. Part fever dream, part history lesson, ‘All My Possessions for a Moment of Time’ takes the young Queen and the audience through a wild ride of royal history, contemporary music, and timeless wisdom that prepares the way for the next generation of leadership, no matter the century. The show is Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ meets Steve Martin’s ‘Picasso at the Lapin Agile’ meets a Spice Girls reunion tour. This is a new work, adapted from letters and speeches by Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II. This historically informed dark comedy takes the past seriously and looks to the future, all while weaving a feminist manifesto with some truly stellar beats. Time travel, ghosts, and decolonization wrapped into an irreverent five act romp.”
