Noah Greene and Darcy Padilla in “Taking Temperature”
Art Studio alumni Noah Greene (MFA 2018) and Darcy Padilla (MFA 2018) have work included in “Taking Temperature,” a group exhibition presented in partnership with Coal + Ice, a documentary photography exhibition and climate festival at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.
The show runs Sept. 7 through Oct. 13 at the Embark Gallery, located in Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Opening reception: Friday, Sept. 7, 6-9 p.m. Hours: 1–6 p.m.,Thursday-Saturday.
Greene and Padilla were among the ten chosen artists whose work is concerned with the consequences of climate change. On both a personal and global scale, how have these shifts affected landscapes, cultures, and communities? What are the implications of living in a country whose government actively denies climate science? Themes include extreme weather events, apocalyptic scenes from the present and future, the refuse created by consumer capitalism and, overall, an urgent plea for environmental activism.
