Anonymous is a collaborative collection of personal stories illuminating the daring vulnerability of embracing womanhood. Traveling along the journeys of divergent paths, Anonymous illuminates the real life events of the performers, defining in their terms what it means to be female and feminine in a male dominated society in moments that are funny, painful, poignant, and surprising.
Anonymous is a multimedia, interdisciplinary collaboration using dance, projected video, and original text. The working process used in this collaboration elicits the potential from each performer, allowing for personal accounts to emerge and gain visibility in the piece, empowering the participants. Valuing their various strengths and insights we thread together a composition that traverses beyond a single vision. The main influence in this method is Anna Halprin’s Life/Art Process. The diversity of the cast takes on a path through the worlds of mainstream contemporary dance, physical theater, and experimental movement art.
Choreographed and written by Avery Lincoln, Cynthia Arellanes, Jaki Joanino, Jarrell Chua, Kristen Rulifson, Manami Ii, Maribel Lopez, Micaela Cirimeli, Monica Ammerman, and Susan-Jane Harrison.
