DES 135A - Furniture Design and Detailing & DES 50 - Introduction to Three-Dimensional Design

The Department of Design announces a temporary lecturer position to teach two courses during the Spring 2020 quarter.  

DES 135 –  FURNITURE DESIGN AND DETAILING ; Development of designs for contemporary furniture. Consideration of behavioral and physical requirements, cultural and historic expression, and structural and aesthetic qualities. Process includes research, drawings, and construction of scale models.

DES 50 – INTRODUCTION TO THREE-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN; Design concept development and detailing as it relates to the making of objects, structures and models using form, scale and materials. Product design and rapid prototyping methods using a range of techniques for advancing the design process.

Design at UC Davis is unique within the University of California system and presents itself as a global model for design education with a research focus.

Applicants must have professional experience in a design field related to the curriculum.

Appointment Date:
The service dates are for the Spring Quarter: March 26 – June 11, 2020. The specific courses are is scheduled as follows;
DES 135A:  Tuesday/Thursday 9 a.m. –12 p.m.
DES 50: Tuesday/Thursday 1 p.m. –4 p.m.

Qualifications:
Appropriate professional degree, e.g. MFA, or equivalent training and professional experience.

Demonstrated teaching ability and experience. A developing record of creative, scholarly, or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to the subject area, as described in this announcement.

Salary and Appointment Level:
Commensurate with degree and experience.
