Lake Tahoe Sonification Project
The Lake Tahoe Sonification Project is a sound installation that represents multiple aspects of Lake Tahoe’s aural environment, both above and within the lake. Sonification is a fresh method of artistic representation, a way to hear the motion of the lake. Sound and science are fused to show a side of Lake Tahoe never before explored: sound waves as the embodiment of the waves of the lake, creating an absorbing experience for all who wish to listen.
This project features the hard work of several UC Davis graduate composers Philip Acimovic, Gabriel Bolaños, Fang-Wei Luo, and Alex Van Gils, as well as Matt Gilbert, and Kevin Corcoran.
The Lake Tahoe Sonification Project is part of the opening celebration of HARVEST—co-sponsored by the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, the Robert Mondavi Institute for Food and Wine, the World Food Center, and the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.
