This Halloween transform yourself by visiting The Enchanted
Cellar, a costume rental service operated by the UC Davis College
of Letters and Science’s Department of Theatre and Dance.
The collection features costumes inspired by such popular series
and films as “Game of Thrones,” “Harry Potter,” “Star Wars” and
“Star Trek” along with folklore and literary heroines, movie
stars and superheroes, animated favorites, fairies, and original
Steampunk. Many iconic fashion periods are represented too, such
as the 1920s, Victorian England and the French Court of Marie
Antoinette.
“We have kits starting at $35 which include all accessories
head-to-toe,” said Roxanne Femling, director of the costume shop.
“Or people can make an individual appointment with one of our
costume consultants who will make up a kit from our stock and
customers can put together their own character. Come have fun
with it!”
The Enchanted Cellar is located in Room 17 on the lower level of
Wright Hall, on campus near the Ann E. Pitzer
Center. Although appointments are preferred, walk-in hours
are Oct. 17-19 and 24-26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and
Oct. 29-31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturdays Oct. 20 and 27 are by appointment only and must be
booked 24 hours in advance.
