Stephen Bingen
Music: Head Audio Engineer
Stephen Bingen is a Research Associate with the department of music and acts as the audio and video engineer for the Pitzer Center. Stephen handles all audio and video recording, live-streaming, sound reinforcement, and digitization of archives for the department. He also provides assistance and guidance for student and faculty research projects in music composition. Stephen studied Music Education and Horn Performance at CSU Sacramento under Pete Nowlen and has performed with the Sacramento Philharmonic, Camellia Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber groups in the area. As a professional hornist, Stephen has appeared as guest soloist with the California All-State High School Choir, Capitol Section Honor Choir, and the Symphony D’Oro. He is also a well-established recording engineer in the area, specializing in location recording of classical and jazz music among other genres. Stephen’s past recording projects have earned various awards, including several Downbeat Music Awards and placement at the top of Apple Music’s Classical A-list.
