Rodger and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!

Winter 2009 Granada Artist-in-Residence Mindy Cooper returns to direct and choreograph Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!

Based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs, the musical features popular tunes including “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” and the title song, “Oklahoma!” This special UCDavis Centennial event is co-produced with the Department of Music featuring David Moschler, musical director, and the UCDavis Symphony Orchestra. Mindy Cooper was spring 2007 Granada Artist-in-Residence when she directed and choreographed Urinetown: the Musical. Her credits include Broadway, Off-Broadway, the New York Shakespeare Festival, Twyla Tharp Dance and the Feld Ballet among many others.

Oklahoma! plays May 2 & 3, and May 8 – 10, 2009 at Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.
