Seasonal Event

The Edge Performance Festival (2011)

This exciting new festival includes Main Stage Dance; a Cabaret featuring graduate and undergraduate students in an evening of music, poetry, and more; stagings of new Undergraduate One Acts; Solo Explorations by graduating MFA acting candidates; and sing-along late night showings of the “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” movie.  (Rocky Horror costumes can be rented in advance or in the lobby before the show – contact The Enchanted Cellar at 530.752.0740.)

Main Stage Dance features five new choreographies: Epicene by Kevin Moriarty, Evolution by Kristi Kilpatrick, A Murder at the Tyburn Tree by Sandra A. Lopez; Flash: Dinamicas de Familia by Daniela Leal; and Habitat by Kevin O’Connor.

Three new plays written by current UC Davis students will be staged: Brother(s) at War by Michael Lutheran; How to Grieve by Ashley Chandler; The Ballad of a Tangerine by Karen Baldomero.

Solo Explorations features four new performances by graduating Master’s of Fine Arts candidates in acting: Baking & Bowling by Michael Davison, Ratchet by Barry Hubbard, Fragments of Artaud’s Desk by Brian Livingston with text by Antonin Artaud, and Something Like Enlightenment by Avila Reese.

The most famous of all midnight movies “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, is an overtly sexual, highly provocative and comedic portrayal of gay and transgender culture, and sexual quirks. The film is a stylized macabre musical as dark as it is daring. The film has garnered a tradition of audience participation and interaction and that is precisely what audiences are encouraged to do at these screenings — interact and sing and dance along!

Events are rated PG-13. Rocky Horror Picture Show is rated R.
