UC Davis once again taking part in Art Silicon Valley/San Francisco
The four-day event – Art Miami’s international contemporary and modern art fair on the West Coast – takes place Oct. 8 – 11 at the San Mateo County Event Center. The fair focuses on international art from the 20th and 21st centuries. About 60 galleries from throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia are taking part.
This is the second time the fair has been held and the UC Davis art department has been invited both times.
Participating are art faculty members Tim Hyde, Annabeth Rosen, Hearne Pardee, Gina Werfel, Darrin Martin, Robin Hill, Lucy Puls and Youngsuk Suh and music professor Pablo Ortiz. Collaborating with them are Michael Turelli, professor of genetics, and Philipp Zerbe, assistant professor of plant biology.
The UC Davis faculty is creating an exhibition called “The Conversation” that will include paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and other works. It will make up one of the larger exhibitions and be specifically designed for the event.
