DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE AND DANCE Design Showcase 2016
Color and creativity are spotlighted at the UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance’s Design Showcase. The work of two Master of Fine Arts costume designers and one scenic designer is showcased through renderings, sketches and 3-D models on Wednesday, June 1 in Wright Hall’s Arena Stage. The event, from 4 to 7 p.m., is free and open to the public.
The showcase features the dynamic portfolios of costume designers Mari Carson and Kristine Doiel and scenic designer Sojin Han as well as work from undergraduate designers. Their designs have been fully realized in a number of productions on the UC Davis stage.
“The designers’ work is so exciting to see on display,” said Maggie Morgan, professor of theatre and dance. “It’s a wonderful ‘behind the scenes’ peek at our process and what we do to bring shows to life. Some undergraduate designers will also be exhibiting designs from classes, shows and independent projects. The designers will be there and happy to discuss their work with visitors.”
