Bilingual “A Cat in the Hat” Features Alumni

UC Davis alumni are working alongside each other in a bilingual production of Dr. Seuss’s beloved classic “A Cat in the Hat/El Gato Ensombrerado” at the Bay Area Children’s Theatre in Berkeley.

Maria Castro serves as the show’s production manager, while Jennifer Vega plays the role of The Fish/El Pez. Alumna and lecturer Michele Apriña Leavy is the production’s Movement Director (Directora de Movimiento).

Based on the Suess book, the show blends Spanish and English, and follows the tale of the mischievous cat and the story’s plot. The production is highly physical and makes for ideal family entertainment.

The production is the U.S. premiere of the piece which was originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain.

The production runs weekends through Nov. 4 at the BACT Berkeley Center, 2055 Center Street. For more information and tickets, visit bactheatre.org
