MFA Graduate Programs in
Theatre & Dance
The department of Theatre & Dance offers studies leading to the Master of Fine Arts degree in Dramatic Art. The M.F.A. is designed to provide a program of rigorous, advanced training and practice that enables mid-career artists to explore and expand skills in order to develop artistically and professionally. The Ph.D. program in Performance Studies is an interdisciplinary Graduate Group. Many Performance Studies graduate students are teaching assistants in the department of Theatre & Dance.
Doctoral students gain advanced knowledge of twentieth and twenty-first century performance, including in acting, directing, design and choreography. Students graduate with the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary for professional research and teaching in performance criticism, history, media, theory, and practice.
