Student Showcase event 4/24/2015 – 4/26/2015

The 19th Annual de Young New Generations Student and Faculty Advisory Committee invites college and university students studying graphic design to submit image proposals for the next Student Showcase postcard. This postcard will be distributed to local colleges and universities to advertise the annual event, which will be held at the de Young from April 24 to 26, 2015. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the creator of the chosen submission, and the winner will be eligible to participate as an artist in the showcase for the following year.

Divergence: Emerging Legacies

Which artistic legacies inspire you, and how does your art emerge from these inspirations? Or how do you diverge from styles that you wish to change? How does your own artistic legacy connect to the de Young’s collections and exhibitions?

Use the museum’s website, deyoungmuseum.org, to begin your research into our collections and the following special exhibitions, all on view concurrently with the showcase:

  • Botticelli to Braque: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland
  • Embodiments: Masterworks of African Figurative Sculpture
  • Janet Delaney: South of Market
  • Diebenkorn Prints

How to Submit Your Design

Submission deadline January 15, 2015

The chosen design must meet the following guidelines:

  • All submissions must be saved with a file name that corresponds to the following example, or it will not be considered: First initial, last name, postcardimage.jpeg
  • Please submit your proposal and application form digitally in jpeg format, 300 dpi, to:
  • Fill out and submit the attached submission form.
  • Submissions are limited to one proposal per person.
  • All submissions are due by midnight on January 15, 2015!
  • Applicants will be notified via e-mail by the end of January.
  • Attached is the postcard from last year’s event. Please use it as a reference.
