Symphony Audition Information
Fall quarter auditions are required for all new and returning members.
Audition dates and times:
Strings, woodwinds, and brass
Check the next available audition times. Be sure to choose the first option in the list, “Symphony Auditions.” These auditions take place in Room 1152 (“Brass”) at the Ann E. Pitzer Center.
One hour only: Wednesday, September 27, 2017, from 4–5 pm in Room 1151 (“Percussion”) at the Ann E. Pitzer Center. You must still sign up for a time in advance, making sure to choose the percussion option.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:10–9:40 pm in Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.
Call time for rehearsals is 6:55 pm.
First Fall quarter rehearsal is Thursday, September 28, 2017

Requirements and Music excerpts
All applicants should prepare a solo piece that demonstrates fast and slow playing (it can be two different pieces or sections from the same work).
Applicants interested in holding a principal position should also prepare to perform at least three orchestral excerpts chosen from the selections below. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to perform these excerpts but only those interested in holding a principal position are required to do so. Parts are free and available for download here:
Debussy: Nocturnes (find your corresponding part)
Elgar: Enigma Variations (find your corresponding part)
All applicants must print, complete, and bring this Application Form (PDF) to their scheduled audition.
