Rita Sahai Honored by the National Federation of Indian-American Associations

Rita Sahai at the 18th biennial National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA), Cerritos, California.

Rita Sahai was among ten Indian-American achievers to be honored by the National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA), at its 18th biennial convention, which was held March 6–8, 2015, in Cerritos, California. The award given to Sahai was in the category of Liberal and Fine Arts.

Rita is a music department faculty member at UC Davis. She teaches music classes in the Bay Area and in Sacramento. She is director of two groups: the UC Davis Hindustani Ensemble and her own Vasundhara Choir. In March of 2013, Rita was inducted into the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame, and was the first Indian to receive such an honor.
