Dunhuang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site at an oasis town on
China’s ancient silk road. It is famous for its ancient Buddhist
grottoes
in about 552 Buddhist temple-caves and over 50,000 square
meters
of murals. In this talk, Professor Chen will
explore:
What are the Dunhuang cave murals? Why are they important?
What has been done to conserve them?
