Darrin Martin
"All Arms and Ears: Reframing Disability Aesthetics"

Darrin Martin, Untitled (Pink Noise), from Noise Print Sculptures for BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aids), Digital prints on arches paper, 17.5 x 21.5”

Art Annex, Room 107

Expanding upon Tobin Siebers’ premise that representations of disability  are central to depictions of the body found in the visual arts, Darrin Martin,  Professor of Art at UC Davis, will draw from examples found in modern and contemporary art practice and media arts. Further elaboration will be explored by leading into a presentation of some of his own works that intersect and explore altered perception through the lens of his own hearing loss.

The presentation is also part of the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project. For more information on the 2014-2015 CCBP Program, visit http://occr.ucdavis.edu/ccbp2014
