TEMPORARY SUMMER LECTURER POSITION IN CINEMA & DIGITAL MEDIA – COMPUTER GRAPHICS

The Department of Cinema and Digital Media at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a lecturer position in the Cinema and Digital Media Department to teach TCS 130 Fundamentals of Computer Graphics during Summer Session 2 of 2018 (August 6 – September 14). The lecturer will teach the class in a studio format with meetings from 11-1:30 and 2:10-4:40 on each of Tuesday and Thursday.

Fundamentals of Computer Graphics provides a broad introduction to computer graphics with an emphasis on applied production. It normally focuses on modeling, including rigging a basic character model, but also briefly touches on rendering and animation. The course should integrate practical skills with conceptual foundations in a way that takes advantage of the instructor’s strengths, interests and background. The courses will be taught in a computer lab equipped with Autodesk Maya for production work.

Qualifications include:

• An appropriate terminal degree; e.g., MFA, Ph.D., or equivalent training and professional experience.
• Demonstrated teaching ability and experience.
• A developing record of creative, scholarly, or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to the subject area described in this announcement.
