TEMPORARY LECTURER POSITION IN THE ART STUDIO PROGRAM, 2018-2019 – PAINTING & DRAWING

The Department of Art and Art History at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a lecturer position in the Art Studio Program to teach PAINTING AND DRAWING classes during the 2018-2019 academic year (September 2018 – June 2019). Courses will include Art 2 Beginning Drawing and Art 7 Beginning Painting. Other possible courses might include Art 101 Intermediate Painting; Art 103A Intermediate Drawing: Black & White and Art 103B Intermediate Drawing: Color. A lecturer teaches a three-hour studio class twice a week and holds regular office hours for his or her students.

These classes introduce students to techniques of painting and drawing along with the historical and conceptual background necessary for contemporary practice for all levels of undergraduate teaching. These courses should integrate practical skills with conceptual foundations in a way that takes advantage of the instructor’s strengths, interests and background. Applicants should be artists with professional practices and expertise in the field of painting and drawing. Qualifications include an MFA and teaching experience beyond the TA level.

This is a non-tenured, temporary position: the appointments to the title of Lecturer are self-terminating (no further notice on non-reappointment will be forthcoming) and do not create an obligation on the part of the University either to extend or renew the appointment outlined above. Any reappointment will be preceded by an assessment.

Proof of citizenship or eligibility for US employment required prior to employment (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986).

This position is subject to UC policy and is covered by a collective bargaining unit.
