FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Theatre and Dance

Full-time Professor of Acting, Open Rank, Tenure Track/Tenured position

The University of California, Davis Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a fulltime Professor of Acting position. Appointment begins July 1, 2016. Instructional responsibilities begin late September.

We seek individuals with professional performance experience as well as experience teaching acting at the university level and with a clear vision how they see their work contributing to the current development of acting skills. The creative activity, research and teaching record must be commensurate with the appropriate rank. An MFA, PhD or equivalent professional experience is required. Responsibilities include teaching at the Undergraduate/Graduate level during the year, and collaborating with our visiting Granada-Artists-in-Residence to facilitate engagement with student actors, as well as mentoring MFA thesis projects as appropriate. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications. The appointee will be expected to advise both Undergraduate and Graduate students, as well as take part in the shared governance of UC Davis at Departmental, College of Letters and Science, and University wide levels.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at UC Davis offers a liberal arts BA degree in Theatre and Dance; a unique 2-year interdisciplinary MFA geared to mid-career professionals, and contributes to the PhD in Performance Studies. There are approximately 85 undergraduate majors, and 8 MFA students. The production season includes the visiting Granada-Artist in Residence Season, the Institute for Theatre, Dance, and Performance (ITDP), graduating MFA show, as well as the department’s professional Sideshow Physical Theatre.

The University of California, Davis is in the Central Valley Delta. It is next door to Napa Valley, 90 minutes from Lake Tahoe, 15 minutes from Sacramento, and 60 minutes from Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco.
