Empyrean Ensemble: “Music of Pablo Ortiz”
Recital Hall, Ann E. Pitzer Center

A concert celebrating the 60th birthday of music professor and composer Pablo Ortiz will feature works dating back to the 1990s and a world premiere. The Empyrean Ensemble performs with soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon and pianist Eric Zivian. Zivian, a San Francisco-based pianist, will perform the world premiere of Ortiz’s “Cycles.”

Garden Songs for Soprano and String Trio

Garden Songs was premiered at the Longy School of Music at Bard College as a Terezín Music Foundation Commission written for Dawn Upshaw; the text is by Louise Glück.
