Jiayi Young, assistant professor of Design, is the creator of “Presently Untitled: Date Mapping of 2016 US Presidential Election Twitter Activity” which opens at the Pence Gallery in Davis on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. 

This project transforms the 2016 United States Presidential Election Twitter data into a large-scale installation to probe the question of how social media assumes form and dominates the shaping of the future of a nation. The installation recounts Twitter activities of tweets, retweets, and replies using hashtags in support of Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy from February 2016 through the election on November 8, 2016.
