“Body electric 1.2″
electroViolet

The UC Davis Institute for Theatre, Dance and Performance (ITDP) presents “Body electric 1.2,” a performance piece featuring electroViolet. The performance takes place in the Della Davidson Performance Studio in Nelson Hall and is free.

electroViolet is comprised of Gretchen Jude and Peiling Kao. The performers, one a Taiwanese trained largely in Western movement traditions and the other a Euro-American trained in Japanese traditional musics, find their relationship full of multiple (sometimes ironic) ironic crossings. Their performance relationship, which predates their personal one, bounces and oscillates with challenges. Their project may be summarized by saying that they attempt to improvise in a collaboration where who follows and who leads is fluid and never fixed.  Where kinesthetic and proprioceptive senses, as well as breath, weight, intensity, pressure are at least as central as ’sight’ and ’sound.’ Where they encounter their selves in the other and vice versa.

The UC Davis ITDP serves as a creative laboratory for our faculty to pursue their creative and scholarly research.
