JayJay in Sacramento will soon open their exhibition “#Times Up, Big Issues Small Pieces” featuring the works of Tavarus Blackmon (MFA 2018), Julia Couzens (MFA 1990), Glenda Drew (Professor, Design), Robin Hill, Jeffrey Mayry (MFA 2016) and Jiayi Young (Assistant Professor, Design), among others.

Inspired by the #METOO/TIMESUP movements and the affirming #WESAIDENOUGH statement made in Sacramento at the State Capitol in October 2017, this invitational exhibit is conceived as an artistic platform to discuss this historic revolution/evolution time in our culture. In response to this social earthquake, JAYJAY presents an exhibition that aims to support the fight to expose and end sexual harassment and abuse forever.

10% of profit from artwork sold will be split between the Times Up Defense Fund and the We Said Enough Equity fund.

Opening reception: Thursday, May 31 from 5-8 pm

Research

glenda drew’s research is based at the intersections of visual culture and social change, with a particular emphasis on the working class. Her subjects include country musicians, waitresses, feminists and precarious workers. Her practice is multifaceted in form and includes film/video, motion graphics, photography, graphics, augmented reality, interactivity and audience participation.
