Congratulations on a job well done!!
The Art History End of Year Awards and Celebration was held this Saturday, June 2, at the Manetti Shrem Museum. Following the presentations of our graduating MA students, we celebrated the accomplishments of our excellent undergraduate students.
The Outstanding Performance award acknowledged students for superior academic performance of a 3.6 GPA or above. This year’s recipients were: Spivey Mclane, Anne Brunetto, Jennifer Place, Helena Zittel and Abigail Groff.
The Department Citation was awarded to students who met the GPA minimum of 3.6 and made substantial contributions to the department. This honor was awarded to: Louisa Brandt, Emma Lingel-Gary and Gary Calcagno.
And finally, there was the Outstanding Senior Award which was granted to Gary Calcagno. Gary was an exceptional student! Gary excelled academically earning one of the top GPAs in the major and proved to be an enthusiastic ambassador for the campus arts community as a student assistant for the Manetti Shem Museum. His thoughtful demeanor complemented his deep passion for the field and his incisive intellect. Gary was able to engage critically with challenging topics, as evidenced by his Honors Thesis on Japanese colonial architecture in Korea, which he presented at the regional Bay Area Undergraduate Art History Research Symposium. He plans to continue his studies at the graduate level and pursue a museum career in curatorial work or collections management.
Congratulations to all! Great work!
